About

The brains behind Neurotech@Berkeley!

Who we are

We are an established student organization at Cal with a mission of fostering a vibrant community on campus for students interested in the intersection of neuroscience and technology. We contribute to the greater neurotechnology community by working on consulting projects, furthering neurotechnology research in academia, reporting on recent neurotechnology field developments, and teaching neurotechnology fundamentals, all while making friendships that last forever!

Mission

As a community, our goal is to increase accessibility to neurotechnology through our 6 dedicated divisions, as well as through extensive external events.

Software

We use different forms of neural data, such as those from EEG, MRI, and fNIRS, to build software-based solutions to a neuroscience problems. We currently have wide variety of projects, ranging from eye-tracking typing methods to brain-state-controlled music selection algorithms.

Devices

Hardware for the mind, by the mind. We design and build in-house biosensing and BCI devices to experiment with new ways of interfacing with computers, augment human capabilities, and innovate new forms of prosthetics. Some of our devices are used by the software division

Consulting

Our consulting division delivers neurotech-reliant solutions to industry partners.

Technical Project Managers are hand-picked to empower teams of five to six consultants of NT@B’s best developers, designers, and leaders. If you are interested in working with us, please contact us here.

Operations

Our division connects our budding talent with neurotechnology's greatest minds in academia and industry. We build the pathway for ideas, software, and hardware to flow between us and the outside world by organizing networking events, academia/research panels, and our own hackathon! We also co-host the largest student-led neurotech conference in the nation (check it out by clicking "Conference" above!).

Publications

Our publications division has been recognized as a Medium's Top Writer in Innovation with 20,000+ followers. Our semesterly open-source publication, MIND, is a unique creative forum where dedicated writers dive deep into topics ranging from the neuroscience of death to the uses and consequences of brain implants -- give them a read by clicking "Publications" above! We also run a podcast, in which we have in-depth conversations with academia and industry experts in Neurotechnology.

Education

Neurotech@Berkeley’s education division seeks to spread knowledge and passion for neurotech through a student-led DeCal, Intro to Neurotechnology. Our course covers comprehensive background knowledge to get into the neurotech field--from demystifying foundational neurobiology to the cutting edge technologies involved in innovating in the field (click "Education" above to learn more!). In addition to the DeCal, our division also runs our New Member Education Program and provides opportunities to do independent academic research!
